Maldives Customs Service has seized drugs that were being smuggled into the country through the post office.

Officials revealed that the drugs were confiscated during a search of the packages at the office.

While the drugs, cannabis and ecstasy, were confiscated on 13 and 19 June, they had come in packages imported from Turkey, United Kingdom and Sri Lanka.

Customs has since handed the drugs to the Maldives Police Service for further investigation.

Seized during the search were 132 grams of drugs.
