Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) President Hassan Luthufee has resigned from the commission.

RaajjeMV understands that Luthufee resigned via letter on Tuesday, however, there has been no word from the ACC.

This comes after the parliament’s committee on independent institution voted to dismiss him for accepting his monthly salary despite being absent from work.

Luthufee has been accused of helping former President Abdulla Yameen escape his money laundering charge by trying to keep Yameen’s bank account from being frozen and allow the one million US dollars Yameen received from MMPRC to be transferred to an escrow account during ACC’s investigation.

The police service has confirmed that it is investigating a money laundering case involving Luthufee.

Also, an ACC employee has said that he has been absent from work since February 10 but is still accepting full pay.
