Maldives signs visa waiver agreement with Russia
 
Minister Shahid is currently on an official visit in Moscow, Russia, having traveled there on Monday on the invitation of Minister Lavrov
 
The agreement will provide a 90-day on arrival visa for resident of both countries

Maldives has entered a visa waiver agreement with Russia.

The agreement was signed on Tuesday, by Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

The ministry said that under the visa waiver agreement “provides 90 days on arrival for citizens of both countries.”

Minister Shahid is currently on an official visit in Moscow, having traveled there on Monday on the invitation of Minister Lavrov.

Both parties met on Tuesday, and the ministry said that they had discussed “on enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation in various avenues such as increasing export of Maldives fish to Russia, tourism, climate change and counter-terrorism.”

Work is also being done to open a Maldivian embassy in Russia, which was announced by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during his inaugural address at the People’s Majlis in February.
