Inspections at tourist establishments carried out in seven atolls thus far: Minister
 
"Some guesthouses have misconducts, will resolve it"

The Ministry of Tourism has revealed that thus far this year, it has conducted inspections at guesthouses and resorts across a total of seven atolls.

At a press conference on Thursday, Minister Ali Waheed revealed that guesthouses, hotels, dive centers, resorts and marinas have been thoroughly inspected under President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s policies on maintaining security at tourist accommodation establishments across the nation.

These inspections were carried out in joint cooperation with the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) and started in February.

The regions that have had inspections carried out thus far are Haa Dhaal, Gaaf Alif, Gaaf Dhaal, Addu, Fuvahmulah as well as Faafu atoll.

Inspections are currently being carried out in Vaavu and Kaafu atolls as well, revealed the minister.

Waheed further revealed that they had found some misconducts in some establishments. Some were unregistered and some need to improve their security measures. Waheed added that the ministry will be taking the required measures to ensure improvements are made.

In addition, Waheed also said that during these inspections, they will be prioritizing factors like the ratio of resort staff as well as service charge rates.
