Maldives and India have exchanged six MoUs during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ongoing visit.

While the PM arrived in the Maldives on Saturday afternoon, he met with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and held delegation level talks in the evening.

Officials from both government's attended the meeting.

Following the meeting, they exchanged MoU's at a ceremony held at the President's Office.

The agreements were in relation to the development of Maldives’ human resources, specifically in the health sector, the economy, capacity building for civil servants, improving expertise in the economic sector, white shipping, and hydrography.

Also at the meeting, PM Modi and President Solih jointly inaugurated two projects – the Composite Training Center for the Maldives National Defence Force and the Coastal Surveillance Radar System to monitor and protect Maldives’ Exclusive Economic Zone.

PM Modi is set to give an address at the Maldives parliament after the Maghrib prayer.

He will also be meeting Vice President Faisal Naseem and parliament speaker and former president Mohamed Nasheed as well as Maldives’ political leaders before concluding his visit and departing to Sri Lanka on Sunday.
