Expatriate threatened at knifepoint in Male’
 
A 27-year-old Maldivian male threatened an expatriate on a bicycle with a knife and attempted to rob him but was attacked by onlookers

An expatriate has been threatened at knifepoint in capital Male’ City, on Monday evening.

The police media officer told RaajjeMV that the assault was reported around 7pm on the corner of Shaheed Ali Hingun and Fulooniya Magu.

The police stated that a 27-year-old Maldivian male threatened an expatriate on a bicycle with a knife in an attempt to mug him, and that he was attacked by onlookers.

The victim is in good health but the mugger had sustained minor injuries and was taken to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for treatment, added the police. It is not clear whether he is under police custody.

The police are now investigating the case.
