Police to patrol busy regions and mosques during Ramadan

Estimated 15 regions will be jammed during peak hours of Ramadan

Maldives Police Service is to station its police officers at hectic regions throughout the upcoming month of Ramadan 1440.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Head of Traffic Police Unit, Mohamed Luthfee stated that traffic control officers will be active near mosques during prayer times and other busy regions during the peak hours of Ramadan.

Some of the regions in capital city Malé include the market place, main road Majeedhee Magu, Sosun Magu and other such regions which totals 15. He went on to add that the unit will try its best to control traffic during Ramadan.

Luthfee added that while officers will be patrolling the regions, vehicles will not be permitted from Maldives Monetary Authority building to “Meerubahuru” harbor from 12:30 pm to 06:30 pm from Monday onwards.

While MPS is preparing for the fasting month by strengthening its forces, it assures the people that security and peace will be maintained by neighborhood officers as well as traffic police.
