Workers voice their concerns at Labour Day march
Participants held up banners and called for a minimum wage, laws to protect the rights of workers, and stop the abuse of foreign workers

Tourism Employees Association of Maldives (TEAM) has successfully concluded their march in the capital city on Labour Day.

The march began at 4:30pm at Rasfannu Beach and ended at the Carnival area on the other side of Male’.

Those who joined the march include the Teacher’s Association, Port Worker’s Union, health workers, fishermen, and crewmen.

During the march, participants held up banners and called for a minimum wage, laws to protect the rights of workers, and stop the abuse of foreign workers.

Speaking at the march, Kendhoo MP and prominent attorney Ali Hussain said the previous administrations had been negligent of the rights of workers.

Labour Day, International Worker’s Day, or May Day is a celebration of labourers and the working classes.
