131 cases of violence against children reported last month: Gender Ministry
 
52 percent of reported cases have to do with child abuse

The Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services has revealed that the majority of cases they received last month were to do with child abuse.

According to statistics, out of the total of 253 cases reported to them, 52 percent were cases related with child abuse.

As such, 131 cases of violence against children were reported during the past month, reveals the ministry’s analysis of the previous month.

35 cases out of the 131 have to do with child negligence while 32 were regarding sexual abuse, 14 to do with psychological harm, six were reported on children being witness to domestic violence, three cyber bullying cases and two cases of violence from other minors.

Throughout the previous month, a total of six cases to do with denying the rights of children were received.

One case of barring a child from education and one case of denying their identifications were also received.

The ministry further revealed that they had received 27 familial cases in the previous month.

Further, the ministry revealed that five cases were received regarding different offenses by children and 15 cases were reported in connection to child behavior.

In addition, the ministry also revealed that they had received 19 reports of negligence towards the elderly and the disabled.

While 12 cases of self-harm were also received, more cases taken on by the ministry can be found through their official website.
