Maldives Police Service (MPS) has found 150kg of drugs in an uninhabited island in Gaaf Dhaal atoll.
Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed made this announcement at a dinner hosted in Thinadhoo of Gaaf Dhaal atoll on the occasion of the 86th Anniversary of the police service.
Officers found 150 kilograms of drugs buried in the island during a region-wide search operation carried out within the past 72 hours.
RaajjeMV understands that five have been taken under police custody in connection to the confiscation.
The operation was conducted with the joint efforts from the Criminal Investigation Command, Divisional Police Command and Drug Intelligence Unit.
