Former President Abdulla Yameen was able to form the People’s National Congress (PNC) within three days while former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is still struggling to form his party after three months, mocks Abdul Raheem Abdulla, President of PNC.

In an exclusive interview to RaajjeTV, Abdul Raheem, who was chosen as PNC President on Friday, said that Yameen is the true leader of the opposition party and that the quick establishment of PNC shows the immense support for Yameen.

The Elections Commission gave former President Gayoom permission to form Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) on February 19, and they are currently working to obtain the required 3,000 membership applications.

Abdul Raheem said that PNC plans to establish relations with its members in the islands and increase membership.

He vowed to hold the government accountable and report any sort of abuse to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, adding that they are currently investigating claims that the government is giving the Dharumavantha Hospital to an Indian company.

He also said that he has no interest in pursuing any political work unless its by Yameen’s side.
