The Maldives President gave his condolences in separate phone calls on Friday

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has given his condolences to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe.

The Maldives President gave his condolences in separate phone calls on Friday, following Sri Lanka’s terror attacks on Sunday.

During the phone calls, President Solih conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Maldivian people.

He further inquired on the ongoing security situation in Sri Lanka, and expressed solidarity with the Sri Lankan government and its people.

The coordinated attacks on Sri Lankan churches and luxury hotels on Easter Sunday left 253 people dead.

Following the attacks, the Maldives government sent envoys to express its support for the neighboring country and has strengthened Maldives’ own security in key areas.

The Maldivian Embassy in Colombo has asked Maldivian residents to comply with Sri Lankan authorities during its state of emergency.
