The “best gift” Maldives ancestors passed onto the current generation is the sovereignty of the nation, asserts Vice President Faisal Naseem.
VP Naseem said this while addressing attendees at a ceremony held to commemorate this year’s Martyrs Day at Dharubaaruge, on Saturday.
He went on to state that the people would want to prolong the Islamic faith that binds the nation as one.
Shedding light on all the different kinds of thinking that is required for different worldly matters, VP Naseem stated that Maldivians must do their best to remain united.
Highlighting that most of such historic incidents occurred because some of our “own” betrayed the country, VP Naseem went on to add that this is a lesson we should all learn from marking Martyrs Day.
During the event, VP Naseem also remembered and praised the brave who were martyred while serving in the front lines to protect the nation.
The ceremony held on Saturday night was joined by Minister of Home Affairs Sheikh Imran Abdulla as well as other ministers of the cabinet.
