Malé City Council has urged to take down all the campaign posters, flags and banners for the past Parliamentary Elections 2019.
The council gave a two-week span to take down everything related to campaigns for the elections held last Saturday.
Mayor Shifa Mohamed stated that an agreement had been signed with all candidates to take down all of their campaign-related items within a two-week period after the elections conclude. As such, all candidates are advised to follow the agreement through, said Shifa.
The Mayor also said that if the agreement is not followed through, fines will be imposed.
In addition, Shifa also stated that some candidates had gone against the agreement even throughout their campaigns before the elections. Some of them had put up posters on government buildings, the swimming track region, which was against the agreement, she stressed.
However, some candidates had dutifully begun taking down posters right after the Saturday polls, Shifa had highlighted.
