The Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure has commissioned a harbour development project in Himandhoo island of Alif Alif atoll.
The project was officially launched by Minister Mohamed Aslam at an event held on Thursday, who said that the project will be closely overseen.
Minister Aslam said that the project has been given to the state-run Maldives Transport and Contracting Company, which he said is entirely competent.
Aslam further said that the local government council in Himandhoo will be closely involved with the project.
The project is worth MVR 43 million and is to be completed within 350 days; the project involved building 497 metres of breakwater, a 372-metre platform, and a ramp.
