Maldives Media Council (MMC) has revealed that 74 individuals are up for their Journalism Awards.

MMC via a statement on Wednesday revealed that 74 individuals have applied for awards under the four categories they have set.

While 33 individuals have applied for the award under “Print Online Category”, seven have applied under the “Broadcasting Category”, five under the “Most Promising Journalist” award and 29 are up for the award under the special Journalism Award.

Number of registered media outlets in the Maldives reaches 108 while 37 are licensed to broadcast.

Maldives Media Council and Broadcasting Commission are responsible for taking action against media outlets if any complaints or cases are filed against them.

The Council is yet to announce a date for the awards ceremony.
