Ahmed Shareef, president of the Elections Commission of Maldives, has expressed his belief that state institutions will uphold ‘the interests of the nation’.
Shareef said this in a tweet through his personal account, adding that there is ‘no room’ to delay the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Last week, Shareef said that the commission has been receiving reports of attempts to delay the election.
No cases have been filed in court, and Shareef has said that there are no legal grounds on which to postpone the election.
The People’s Majlis election is scheduled for April 6th.
