President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that he does not want to stay in power and see government bills fail in parliament.

Speaking at an event in Kelaa on Monday, the President said that he has already experienced how difficult it was to run the government while facing a hostile parliament, when he was an MP during the previous MDP government.

Back then, President Solih said he sometimes had to stay awake trying to garner support for a government bill before attending the sitting to vote the next day, adding that the government had found it difficult to go through with their manifesto due to lack of parliament majority.

Speaking at the event, President Solih also made several pledges to the islands in Kelaa constituency. These include the development the roads and harbor and establishment of a water supply system in Kelaa island.

He also pledged to establish a sewage system in HA Filladhoo and also open its connected island Dhapparu for tourism.

He pledged to solve the spacing issue at the Filladhoo health center and increase the staff as well as establish water and sewerage systems in HA. Vashafarui.
