Rasfannu beach has been closed over complaints of water contamination.
The police service closed the beach after receiving the report on Friday.
On Friday night, Male’ City Council stated that they will announce a re-opening date after conducting the investigation.

Photos have been circulating on social media over suspected contaminants at Rasfannu beach.
The Health Protection Agency stated that the Ministry of Health is undertaking necessary measures following reports of fecal contamination and urged the public to not use the Rasfannu waters until further notice.

Contamination at the Rasfannu beach is a common problem and is sometimes caused by broken sewage pipes nearby.
