Mohamed Nasheed, the leader of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), has advised the party candidates and supporters to not react to acts of vandalism.

Former President Nasheed said this on Saturday in a tweet with a photo showing the campaign office of MDP candidate Ahmed Haitham with a broken window.

Nasheed asked candidates and supporters to remain patient and not respond to vandalism even after they find out the culprits.

While there are two weeks remaining until the parliamentary election, incidences of vandalism on campaign sites have increased.

MDP candidate Mikael Naseem’s campaign offices were earlier vandalized and a group had obstructed MDP candidate Hussain Shaheem’s campaign activities.
