Jumhooree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim has said that main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has no guarantee of receiving even six seats in the parliamentary election.
He said this at a campaign event for JP candidate for Dhangethi constituency and former defence minister Mohamed Nazim.
This was in response to MDP leader and former president Mohamed Nasheed saying that JP has no chance of winning six seats in the election even after allying themselves with the opposition coalition.
Nasheed said that this alliance will only result in JP and the opposition fighting with themselves.
JP leader Qasim said that Nasheed made this remark out of insecurity over his own party’s chances of securing seats.
