The government has on Tuesday announced that they are seeking contractors to develop water and sanitation systems in 11 islands.
The Ministry of Finance and Treasury announced projects for Filadhoo island of Haa Alif atoll, Finey of Haa Dhaalu atoll, Naavaidhoo island of the same atoll, Naradhoo island of Shaviyani atoll, Maaungoodhoo island of the same atoll, Lhohi of Noonu atoll, Holhduhoo of the same atoll, Inguraidhoo island in Raa atoll, Magoodhoo island of Faafu atoll, Maavah island of Laamu atoll, and Gulhi island of Kaafu atoll.
The projects will be allocated in adherence to International Competitive Bidding (ICB) and bidding will begin on 18th April.
Developing water and sanitation systems in all islands is one of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s campaign pledges.
Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer on Monday signed an agreement with India to acquire a credit line of USD 800 million, which he says will be used to fulfill this pledge.
