MDP receives Hinnavaru council majority
Their party applications were presented to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Friday
The Hinnavaru council now consists of four members of MDP and one from PPM

Two council members of Lh. Hinnavaru have signed into Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), giving the main ruling party the majority.

Their party applications were presented to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at MDP’s campaign event in Hinnavaru on Friday night.

Four members of opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) had signed into MDP. They are council members Mohamed Solih and Adam Aneez, and two prominent PPM activists.

The Hinnavaru council now consists of four members of MDP and one from PPM.

President Solih was in Hinnavaru to inaugurate MDP candidate Jihan Mahmood’s parliamentary campaign.

President Solih relinquished his Hinnavaru seat after 25 years in parliament and Jihan Mahmood won the constituency by a wide margin in the MDP primary election.
