Deputy Prosecutor General Mariyam Nihaayath has resigned from her position at the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office. 

The PG Office has not revealed details of her resignation, but confirms that Nihaayath vacated her position on Monday. 

Nihaayath was appointed to the position in 2016, while a case was being investigated against her by the Anti-Corruption Commission. 

Nihaayath was one of the first women judges in the Maldives, having been appointed to the Civil Court. 

However, she was suspended by the Judicial Services Commission when she was appointed to the PG Office in 2016.
