Minister of Home Affairs, Imran Abdulla has held discussions with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime regarding improving conditions at prison facilities.

State Minister of Home Affairs, Ali Nazeer told RaajjeMV that a delegation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime had paid a courtesy call on the Minister on Monday.

The delegation and Minister Imran discussed better rehabilitation methods for drug users to make them productive members of society when they are released, the elimination of drugs from the community, and improving prison conditions.

During the meeting the UNODC members assured their support and assistance with the government of Maldives in accomplishing these goals.

While this is the first meeting between the Ministry and the delegation, the meeting saw discussions between both parties to work together in numerous areas.

The ministry and delegation are expected to hold more meetings in the future, revealed the State Minister.
