The restaurant owner has been given 30 days to vacate for violating their lease agreement

The government has ordered the owner of Newport View to vacate the bridge view platform area.

Newport View has a 500-person capacity and was opened on February 6.

The restaurant’s managing director Malaka Abdul Hakeem, is the wife of Zahid Rameez, the former council member of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

Zahid Rameez was the previous managing director but has handed the company over to Malaka.

RaajjeMV understands that the restaurant owner has been given 30 days to vacate for neglecting to pay rent for three months.

Newport View signed the lease agreement for eight years with a monthly rent of over MVR 100,000.

The 10,000 square-foot land was given to Newport’s parent company Strada during the previous administration of President Abdulla Yameen.

RaajjeMV understands that the government plans to turn the land into a public park.

Strada is now preparing to file suit against the government.
