Ceremony was held at Maafushi Island as part of Women's Day celebrations
President Solih also unveiled the Women’s Day monument on Thursday

Eight women and Society for Health Education (SHE) have been conferred Rehendhi Awards this year.

The awards were conferred during a function held in commemoration of this year’s Women’s Day in Maafushi Island of Kaafu atoll.

First Lady Fazna Ibrahim had conferred the awards to recipients, along with Rehendhi Award brooches.

The recipients of this year’s Rehendhi Awards are as follows:

  1. Aminath Mohamed, Malé registry, for exceptional Institutional Service,
  2. Aishath Nazima, Malé, under the social sector,
  3. Mariyam Shifzana, Malé, for exceptional services in non-traditional roles,
  4. Moomina Adam, Malé, under the social sector,
  5. Aishath Looba, Hulhumale flat 02-03-112, under social sector,
  6. Society for Health Education, Malé, under Employer’s Category,
  7. Aminath Azla Adil, Fuvahmulah, for exceptional services in non-traditional roles,
  8. Amina Alikileyfaan, Gadhdhoo, under the social sector,
  9. Aishath Shiruhan, Malé, under social sector.

Also on Thursday, President Solih unveiled the Women’s Day monument in Maafushi island.

The Gender Ministry initiated the awarding ceremony in 2014 to celebrate exceptional women who contribute their progressive work to the development of the nation and society, the ones who empower the youth to push themselves to reach their full potential, the accomplishments of the ones who strive to succeed and to increase the count of female employees in significant fields, including ones to which women are yet to be introduced.

While the Gender Ministry initiated the 'Rehendhi Award' in 2014, bold and progressive women of the country have been claiming the good name since.
