Reinstated Superintendent of Police, Mohamed Riyaz and current Chief Superintendent of Police Abdulla Ahmed have been appointed as Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP).

RaajjeMV understands that Acting Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed made the appointments on Tuesday.

While Riyaz was reinstated on 13 December last year, he had been dismissed from his position, on 7 September 2017, for his alleged close connection to then opposition. He was dismissed after evaluations from the police’s disciplinary board.

Civil Court issued the order to reinstate Riyaz after Police agreed in court that the decision to dismiss him was not fair and the allegations put forward against him were not investigated by the police’s disciplinary board fairly.
