Police take custody of seized Sri Lankan fishing vessels

A crew of 25 were arrested from the vessels

The police service on Monday took custody of the four fishing vessels found operating in Maldivian waters.

The vessels, spotted over 100 nautical miles off of Kelaa island in northern Haa Alif atoll, were captured in late February.

The Maldives National Defence Force apprehended a total group of 25 individuals onboard the vessels, who were held on charges of illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing in Maldivian territory.
