128 cases of violence against children were reported during the past month, reveals the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services.
According to the ministry’s analysis of the previous month, the most reported cases received were of child negligence which were recorded at 48.
28 cases out of the 128 have to do with sexual abuse, 21 have to do with physical harm and 11 cases have to do with psychological harm, revealed the ministry.
Of the total, 10 cases were of a child being witness to domestic violence, six have to do with cyber bullying and one have to do with violence from other minors.
Throughout the previous month, a total of 14 cases to do with denying the rights of children were received.
12 cases of barring a child from education and two cases of denying their identifications were also received.
The ministry further revealed that they had received 47 familial cases in the previous month.
Further, one case of drug use was also reported and 19 cases were reported in connection to child behavior.
While 47 cases of domestic violence were received, 21 were of physical abuse. Verbal abuse cases were recorded at 12, four cases of threatening, three rape cases were also received.
In addition, the ministry also revealed that they had received 15 reports of negligence towards the elderly and the disabled.
