Former President Abdulla Yameen has been taken back to Maafushi prison after being discharged from Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
IGMH stated that he had been admitted in the cardiology ward on Wednesday for 24 hours.
Yameen is being remanded until his trial concludes following a Criminal Court order upon the Prosecutor General’s request.
During a hearing on Monday, the ex-President had revealed that he has been receiving treatment for a back pain.
IGMH had not revealed what he was treated for.
Yameen is being detained over state money-laundering charges pinned against him following PG’s accusations of tampering with witness testimonies.
Following Yameen’s hospitalization, his supporters gathered at the hospital but was dispersed by police officers using pepper-spray.
