The case of Rawshan Jian’s death has been sent to the Prosecutor General for evaluation.
The seven-year-old died after succumbing to injuries inflicted on her at a construction site last December.
Acting police commissioner Mohamed Hameed, replying to a tweet, said that her case was sent to the PG office two weeks earlier. The police media officer has also confirmed this to RaajjeMV.

On December 17, 2018, a cement bag fell from a construction site, managed by W Construction, on Jian as she was walking with her family in Male’. Since the accident, the government has been conducting safety evaluations of construction sites in the capital city.
Her family has said that the government has given them its full support and said that they have been asked to wait in Maldives until the conclusion of the investigation.
The safety of construction sites and buildings has become an issue in the Maldives, highlighted by recent accidents. On Sunday, a 44-year-old expatriate was fatally injured from falling debris from a construction building in Hulhumale’ and a man sustained a head injury from a cutting board that fell from a building in Malé.
Also, a trash bag fell on a child with Thalassemia and a 13-foot pipe fell from a construction building in Male’.
The Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure publicized new safety regulations for construction companies.
