The Ministry of Tourism has advised operators in the tourism industry to not accommodate guests at locations not approved by the ministry.

The ministry advised as such in a statement on Tuesday that said all guesthouses, tourist resorts, and other locations used to accommodate tourists must be approved by the ministry.

Last Thursday, the ministry began inspecting facilitates that host and accommodate tourists across the Maldives.

Minister Ali Waheed told a press conference on Tuesday that the inspection will begin on February 7th, and is to be completed within seven months.

Minister Waheed said that the inspection will evaluate the conditions of both staff and guests, as well as safety measures taken at the outlets.
