The first parliament sitting of the year, and the final of the sitting MPs, has been scheduled for February 25.
According to the parliament secretariat, speaker Qasim Ibrahim had met with all five parliamentary group leaders before setting a date for the sitting.

On Monday, parliament's media director Hassan Ziyau told RaajjeMV that a sitting will be scheduled after the renovation work at the parliament building concludes.
The Maldivian constitution states that “there shall be at least three sessions every year,” and the first session should continue till April.
The country's 19th parliamentary body will be elected the same month, with the polls set for the 6th.
Parliament’s inaugural session was held last Thursday, where President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih delivered his first presidential address since assuming office in November 2018.
Last year’s sessions concluded with several bills pending, including some proposed by the president himself.
President Solih had, during the presidential address, asked to expedite these bills.
