The Ministry of Education has on Monday announced plans to develop 10 new schools in the Greater Malé Area.

The schools are being developed as per an audit conducted in January, which shows requirement for 288 additional classrooms for the government to initiate single-session study at local schools.

The audit says the schools together must have: 47 science labs, 28 libraries, 22 staff rooms, 57 kitchens, and 42 audio-video rooms.

To conduct an audit in order to understand the resources required to change study at local schools under a single session was one of the new government’s first 100-day pledges.
