Telecommunications company Ooredoo has announced that it would be gifting its Smart Campus to the Maldives government.

Smart Campus allows students and teachers to collaborate online.

Ooredoo stated that it will work with Maldives universities and use its smart campus to prepare young people for the job market and for older people to re-enter the workplace.

Ooredoo CEO Najib Khan announced this at a special event held on Wednesday morning with Vice President Faisal Naseem and Minister of Science and Technology Maleeh Jameel.

Ooredoo states that its Smart Campus enables students and teachers to connect from anywhere in the Maldives over Ooredoo’s 4G+ network and collaborate, as well as meet live in online interactive class. This collaborative Web conferencing environment enables users to communicate in real-time using video and audio or through text chat, and to share presentations, documents and images on an interactive whiteboard.

Ooredoo Maldives says that the solution is currently used at the Maldives Polytechnic, a state-run training institute in capital city Malé.
