Maldivian children are ‘irresponsibly’ exposed to the internet, which is immensely unsafe for them, says Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal, Minister of Communication, Science, and Technology.

In commemoration of the World Safer Internet Day 2019 on Tuesday, Minister Maleeh told a press conference on Tuesday that parents tend to allow their children access to their mobile phones.

At the conference, Minister Maleeh advocated giving controlled access to children and teaching them how to safely use the internet.

The minister also announced a campaign through which awareness sessions for parents and teenagers on internet safety is to be held.
