The Maldives made a revenue of of over MVR 1.5 billion in the last month alone, most of which comes from taxes, Finance Ministry records show.
The ministry’s month-end statistics show that the state made about 1.1 billion from tax revenues, and roughly MVR 435 million from other means.
While this amount was generated, the state had spent a total of MVR 1.2 billion; 767 million of which was spent on paying staff at government offices and of the civil service.
48.7 million was spent on development projects and 84 million was spent on ‘administrative services’, the ministry says.
The state also generates a significant income from airport development charges and island rent charges.
