President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that all Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka will have national medical insurance Aasandha coverage from April 1 onwards.
The President said this at an event at the Maldives embassy in Sri Lanka on Sunday during his three-day visit to the neighboring country.
During his speech, President Solih said his government is working to provide Aasandha services to Maldivians living in all neighboring countries.
Highlighting that 12000 Maldivians reside in Sri Lanka, President Solih said that around 7000 are on student visa and that some achieve their pre-school to higher education in Sri Lanka.
President Solih said that the government is now providing loans to all students and advised them to use it responsibly.
He also asked all Maldivians in Sri Lanka to respect their host nation and to avoid any behavior that might hurt their decades-long good relations.
