Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has found the boat that went missing near Filladhoo island in Haa Alif atoll in late January.

MNDF revealed that “Unity” had been contacted close to 5:30 on Saturday.

Boat owner had told the MNDF Coast Guard that it had begun heading towards capital city Male’ at sundown. The boat had been fishing 30 nautical miles north of Kelaa island in Haa Alif atoll.

“Unity” set off for fishing with 13 individuals onboard on 25 January, and was reported missing to the MNDF CG Maritime Rescue Coordination Center a little past 2pm on 1 February.

MNDF had received reports that the boat was last spotted fishing near Kelaa in the same atoll, on 29 January.
