Anti-Corruption Committee (ACC) has said that it has halted the process of granting the ownership of two flats in Rehendhi Residency to former President Abdulla Yameen’s deputy, Abdulla Jihad.
The flats were allocated as Jihad’s formal residence during his time as the country's vice president, after ex-President Yameen chose to reside in Hilaaleege, which is the official residence of the vice president.
The official presidential residence is Mulee’aage or Theemuge.
ACC Vice President Muavviz Rasheed said that they had halted the process upon a complaint filed by a private party.
However, he had refrained from revealing further details as the case is being investigated by the commission.
While Jihad's term as vice president ended following the inauguration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s new government, RaajjeMV understands that Jihad is still living in Rehendhi Residency without paying rents.
He had requested for ownership of the flats on the 8th of November last year, while Yameen was still in power.
The President’s Office had even addressed a letter regarding the ownership to Ministry of Housing.
However, the Ministry had not completed the entire process when President Solih took over.
Jihad is the third vice president of President Yameen's adminstration, he was appointed to the post in June 2016.
