Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has said that the demands made by jailed former Vice President Adeeb’s family is unreasonable.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Minister Imran said that Adeeb’s family, friends, and his political party want the government to meet the family’s demand regarding his medical treatment.

However, Minister Imran said that the home ministry cannot keep him hospitalized for as long as the family wants and that the ministry is legally required to transfer him back to prison once doctors discharge him after treatment.

Minister Imran said that only the doctors can determine how long he should be hospitalized and when to discharge him, and that he is ready to allow whatever treatment the doctors recommend. He also said that Adeeb is being treated better than other prisoners and that all the treatment neglected during the last two years of the previous administration have been provided in the last two months.

Highlighting that the correctional service has neither been negligent or biased towards Adeeb, Imran blamed the previous government for keeping him in poor prison conditions.
