Missing tourist who went diving found dead underwater
 
His body was found underwater on Wednesday evening
 
The man was reported missing at around 1:30 pm on Wednesday

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has found the body of the tourist who was reported missing after he went diving northward of Alimatha resort in Vaavu atoll.

The body of the 57-year-old tourist was found underwater close to 04:30 pm and MNDF Coast Guard divers are currently working to take his body out of the water.

MNDF Media Official Captain Azim earlier revealed that they had received the missing person report at around 01:30 pm on Wednesday and that he was reported missing from a cruiser. Following the report MNDF had dispatched its Male’ Area Coast Guard to conduct a search operation in the area.

This comes at a time there has been an alarming hike in sea accidents that have led to the death of many.

Just on Wednesday morning, an Indian national was found dead in the lagoon near the local fruit market in capital city Male’.
