India remains a strong development partner of Maldives, says Vice President Faisal Naseem.
He made the statement during a speech given at the ceremony held to mark India’s Republic Day at Dharubaaruge on Saturday.
VP Naseem conveyed greetings of the day and his well wishes to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as the people of India.
Shedding light on the close relationship shared between the two countries, VP Naseem remarked on the bond that was formed through years of friendship, shared aspirations and traditions, being far more than bilateral ties.
Further, the President’s Office revealed that, VP Naseem noted that the constitutions of both countries share the same “underlying spirit” and intent to provide citizens of both nations, the rights and freedoms of a democratic society.
In conclusion, VP Naseem had India has always been rushed to the Maldives aid when needed the most, having highlighted that India has proven to be a “consistent” and “generous” friend to the Maldives.
Highlighting that Maldives deeply values the ties binding the two nations, VP Naseem assured of this administration’s commitment to ensuring that Maldives will continue to work together with India with the spirit of friendship, for the mutual benefit of both countries.
