In the message sent on Saturday, Minister Shahid said it gave him great pleasure to extend warm greetings and sincere good wishes to the government and people of India in its 70th Republic Day.

He said that the underlying principles of equal rights, justice, and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution of India, are sentiments and principles Maldivians also share, and that these shared values are the foundation of the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries.

“Relations between the Maldives and India are better than ever before. Our bilateral and commercial ties are strengthening day-by-day. Our dynamic people-to-people ties complement the strong cooperation between our governments. I am confident that as partners in development and good neighbours, the friendship between our two countries will continue to grow for the mutual benefit of our two peoples.”
