Head of the presidential commission on murders and disappearances, Husnu Suood, has been summoned to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Speaking to RaajjeMV, Suood said that he has been asked to present himself to the JSC at 2pm. He added that the summon is regarding comments he had made at a press conference.
RaajjeMV understands that the former attorney general is being summoned over comments made at a press conference held at the President's Office on December 30, where he made various claims against the judiciary's connection to 'gangs.'
At the press conference, Suood said that local gangs have 'considerable influence over judges.'
Calling this 'worrying,' JSC has since formed a committee to investigate the claims made by the commission on murders and disappearances
The committee- headed by Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath- is tasked with obtaining the relevant information from Suood and other investigative authorities, and publicizing details of their investigation in a timely manner.
Welcoming JSC's decision to investigate the matter, Suood vowed to help the JSC in its investigation.
