Both were presented their letters of appointment at a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Wednesday

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed a Deputy Attorney General and a Minister of State.

Both were presented their letters of appointment at a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Wednesday.

President Solih appointed Ifham Hussain as Minister of State for Gender, Family and Social Services. Ifham has a Masters of Education from the University of Southern Queensland where she also completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood.

In May 2015, Ifham received the International Award “Princess Haya for Special Education” in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Later in 2016, she received a “Disability Award” under the category “professionals providing technical support to children and persons with disability” from the Ministry of Gender and Family.

Moreover, she also received the National Awards (Rehendhi) in 2017 for the category under participation and contribution for women in the social sector.

Her last job was at the post of Managing Director at the Maldives Autism Association.

In addition, President Solih appointed Khadeeja Shabeen as the Deputy Attorney General at the Attorney General’s Office.

Having previously worked at the President’s Office, Attorney General’s Office and several other legal firms, Khadeeja currently works as a freelancer in the legal sector.

She has a Master of Laws from the National University of Singapore and has also completed a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne in Australia.

There are currently 46 individuals at the level of state minister.
