A fire broke out inside a house in Henveiru ward of Male’ City, destroying its kitchen beyond use.

The incident occurred at H. Neat Villa at 7:30pm on Friday due to a gas leak.

The owner of the residence said that the incident occurred at the second floor and that the fire destroyed the kitchen items and equipment but that none of the 10 residents of the house were harmed.

The owner noted that the fire and rescue team had responded to the report and controlled the fire quickly and said that the city council and the disaster management center has visited the house.

He said that while the disaster management center approved them to stay at the house, it was currently not in such a state, and that councilor Ibrahim Manik provided accommodation for a day.
