Recently appointed Acting Commissioner of Police Mohamed ‘MC’ Hameed has revealed the Maldives Police Service (MPS)’s decision to establish an online platform for public feedback.

Hameed revealed this press conference at a press conference on Monday.

According to Hameed, the purpose of establishing the online platform is so that the people can submit their complaints or feedback to better the institution. He further stated that it is important that the police institute learns from the public this way, so that they can further strengthen the istitution.

“People need to share their encounters with officers of the police service with us” said Hameed.

Hameed further said that the authorities are currently working to make the police institutes more dependable.

Further speaking at the press conference, Hameed said that the police service is currently working to form a strategic plan for its institutions.

Stating that the service has prioritized the work to form a strategic plan as part of their reform efforts at an executive level, Hameed revealed that the service plans to form the plan with the cooperation of all as they are yet to learn which areas need more focus on development and amendments just in the police institutions.

The newly appointed commissioner also stated that police institutions must be a place that the people can rely on.
