The elections are being held to fill positions left vacant by 14 members
The Maldives Media Council (MMC) will be holding internal elections this Saturday.
The Ministry of Home Affairs said that the elections are being held to fill 14 positions now vacant.
The tenures of 12 officials who filled these positions expired on December 12th, while the tenure of one individual expired in August.
A total of 15 members are appointed to the MMC, which comprises of members elected by journalists and the public.
The elections will be carried out from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.
